[Infographic] - The Latest Autism Rates

The latest research released by the CDC shows that autism rates have been climbing over the last few years. The report is published every two years by the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network, a CDC-funded tracking system that assesses more than 300,000 8-year-old children for the disorder.

Experts can't pinpoint the reason for the increase. What is known is that autism becomes increasingly complex the more research is conducted. Research reveals that rates are climbing due to increased diagnoses among African-American and Hispanic children, who are narrowing the diagnostic gap with their white classmates. This implies that autism may have always been as prevalent as it is these days, however many people have gone undiagnosed.
